Flame retardant and smoke suppressant
Releases water when heated and reduces smoke, with no halogen.
Hidróxido de alumínio (ATH) is a halogen-free mineral flame retardant and smoke suppressant for wire and cable compounds, borracha, unsaturated polyester (SMC/BMC), artificial stone, epoxy and coatings. SUNCHEM supplies ATH with a batch COA on every shipment; the TDS is sent on request.
ATH starts to decompose at about 200 °C, absorbing heat and releasing water vapor that cools the polymer and dilutes the flame; the alumina left behind protects the surface and reduces smoke. Because it is used at high loadings, tamanho da partícula, surface treatment and purity strongly affect processing and mechanical properties.
ATH suits polymers processed below about 200 °C, such as EVA and PE cable compounds, borracha, UPR and epoxy. For higher processing temperatures, magnesium hydroxide is used instead.
Releases water when heated and reduces smoke, with no halogen.
Used at high loadings as both flame retardant and filler.
We quote against your Al₂O₃ content, tamanho da partícula, brancura, oil absorption, umidade, soluble Na₂O and surface treatment and send the batch COA for each lot.

Al₂O₃ content, tamanho da partícula, brancura, oil absorption, umidade, soluble Na₂O and surface treatment limits depend on the producer grade and are stated on the TDS and batch COA; the limits for your order are confirmed in the quotation and contract.
Where ATH is used, and what to confirm before you switch supply.
The main flame retardant in EVA and PE low-smoke halogen-free (LSZH) cable compounds.
Used in unsaturated polyester SMC/BMC, solid surface and artificial stone, and epoxy potting.
Used in rubber products, revestimentos, adhesives and carpet backing.
| Your requirement | What usually works |
|---|---|
| LSZH cable compounds | Fine, surface-treated ATH |
| UPR, artificial stone | Specify whiteness and particle size |
| Processing above about 200 °C | Use magnesium hydroxide instead |
| Replacing an existing supplier | Send your current TDS or COA; we quote against the parameters you approve |
Tell us the bag or drum size and pallet requirements you need; we confirm the packaging with the quotation.
Keep bags closed in a dry store.
Name the polymer and the fire rating you must meet — UL 94 class and thickness, LOI or cable standard.
Particle size (D50), brancura, oil absorption, umidade, soluble soda and surface treatment.
Keep compounding below about 200 °C or ATH starts releasing water.
Compound a trial batch, run your fire and mechanical tests, and keep the approved lot COA as the reference.
Tell us the polymer, the fire rating you need, the quantity and the destination port. Add your current specification and we will quote against it.
