Ester and flavor raw material
The starting acid for butyrate esters used in fruit flavors and perfumes.
Butyric acid is used to make butyrate flavor esters, butter and cheese flavors, pharmaceutical and other organic chemicals, and for deliming leather. SUNCHEM supplies butyric acid with a batch COA on every shipment.
Butyric acid (butanoic acid) is a short-chain fatty acid with a strong, rancid-butter odor. At trace levels it gives the authentic note in butter and cheese flavors; most volume goes into esters such as ethyl, butyl and isoamyl butyrate for fruit flavors and perfumes. It is also an intermediate for pharmaceuticals and other organic chemicals, and is used in leather deliming.
The correct synonym is butanoic acid. The current page lists “3-methylpropionic acid”, which is not used here.
