Sets the fruity top note
A fruity, pineapple–banana, winey character at low dosage, so a small amount carries the profile of the finished flavor.
Ethyl hexanoate (ethyl caproate) gives a sweet pineapple–banana note with a winey edge. It is a key aroma ester in strong-aroma baijiu and is used in fruit, liquor and tobacco flavors and in organic synthesis. SUNCHEM supplies ethyl hexanoate with a batch COA on every shipment.
Ethyl hexanoate is the ethyl ester of hexanoic (caproic) acid. Its fruity, winey odor makes it the signature ester of strong-aroma Chinese baijiu, and it is widely used in pineapple, banana and apple flavors, in liquor and tobacco flavors, and as an organic synthesis intermediate.
The correct synonym is ethyl caproate. It is not an ester of 2-ethylhexanoic acid, although the current page lists “2-ethylhexanoate”.

| Your requirement | What usually works |
|---|---|
| Food and beverage flavors | Food-grade material with FEMA/JECFA documentation |
| Liquor, tobacco or fragrance use | Specify the odor standard and purity your panel approves |
| Natural-labeled flavors | Ask first: natural grades are made by a different route and priced differently |
| Replacing an existing supplier | Send your current TDS or COA; we quote against the parameters you approve |
Tell us the drum or IBC size you prefer and your pallet requirements; we confirm the packaging with the quotation.
Keep containers closed in a cool, ventilated store away from heat and ignition sources. Esters slowly hydrolyze with moisture, which raises the acid value.
Flammable liquid (Class 3). Check the SDS for the UN number that applies to your shipment.
Food, beverage, liquor, tobacco or fragrance, and the destination country: the grade and documents follow from that.
Purity (GC), acid value and refractive index, plus an odor check against your reference sample.
Run the sample against your current standard on a blotter and in the finished flavor before you approve it.
Keep the approved lot COA and a retain sample as the reference for future deliveries.
Tell us the flavor or product you make, the quantity and the destination port. Add your current specification and we will quote against it.
