Methacrylic anhydride transfers a methacryloyl group to alcohols, amines and thiols under mild conditions, so it is the reagent of choice for methacrylate esters that are hard to make by direct esterification, such as tertiary-alcohol esters and thioesters. It is also used to methacrylate polymers and biomaterials — for example gelatin methacryloyl (GelMA) and hyaluronic acid for hydrogels — and as a crosslinking monomer in UV- and light-curing coatings.
It is supplied with a polymerization inhibitor; tell us the inhibitor and level your process accepts.
