The amount of Fipronil 97%TC is dissolved in some solvent and then sprayed on the plants and on the ground where insects hide. The active ingredient of the product works by entering the nervous system of insects and thereby kills the insects.

The compound is a nerve poison that acts by inhibiting the insect's nerve synapses and muscles. It is a technical product, toxic to aquatic organisms, very toxic to bees. It has many active ingredients which are toxic to insects and can be lethal under high concentrations.

Its half-life is four days. Fipronil is a substituted phenylpyrazole. It acts as a generalist antifeedant/insecticide for many insects by over-stimulating the central nervous system. 

Applications:

Fipronil 97%TC is a fast-acting insecticide used as a general-purpose antifeedant/insecticide for organic farming systems.
