Product overview & key benefits

DBDPE carries about 82% bromine and is thermally stable, so it survives the processing temperatures of engineering plastics. It is used together with antimony trioxide as a synergist in HIPS and ABS housings, polypropylene, PBT and polyamide parts, and in wire and cable insulation. It is widely used as the replacement for decabromodiphenyl ether (DecaBDE), and its low bloom and good UV stability suit light-colored parts.

For compounders, bromine content, whiteness and particle size are the numbers that decide dosage and appearance.

High bromine, high stability

About 82% bromine and a high melting point suit engineering-plastic processing.

DecaBDE replacement

Used where DecaBDE has been phased out, with low bloom in light-colored parts.

Packaging & storage

Packaging

Tell us the bag or drum size and pallet requirements you need; we confirm the packaging with the quotation.

Storage

Keep bags closed in a dry store; avoid dust during handling.

From first email to approved supply

01

Name the end use

Name the polymer and the fire rating you must meet — UL 94 class and thickness, LOI or cable standard.

02

Compare the numbers that matter

Bromine content, whiteness, melting point, particle size and volatiles.

03

Plan the synergist

DBDPE is normally used with antimony trioxide; agree the ratio in your trial.

04

Trial, then lock the spec

Compound a trial batch, run your fire and mechanical tests, and keep the approved lot COA as the reference.

Tell us your requirement. We match the grade.

Tell us the polymer, the fire rating you need, the quantity and the destination port. Add your current specification and we will quote against it.

Decabromodiphenyl Ethane (DBDPE) FAQ

What is DBDPE used for?

As an additive flame retardant, usually with antimony trioxide, in HIPS and ABS housings, PP, PBT, polyamides and wire and cable compounds.

Why choose DBDPE instead of DecaBDE?

DBDPE is used as the replacement where DecaBDE is restricted, and it shows low bloom and good stability in light-colored parts.

Which parameters should I compare between offers?

Bromine content, whiteness, melting point, particle size and volatiles.

Can I get the TDS?

Yes. Send an inquiry with your polymer and target rating and we email the TDS.
