Sunlight® 292 is a liquid hindered amine light stabilizer for automotive, industrial and wood coatings. Used with a UV absorber such as 384-2 o 1130, it prevents cracking and gloss loss.

HALS 292 is a mixture of bis(1,2,2,6,6-pentametil-4-piperidil) sebacate and methyl 1,2,2,6,6-pentamethyl-4-piperidyl sebacate, supplied as a liquid that blends easily into coatings. It traps radicals at the coating surface, preserving gloss and preventing cracking, and works best with a UV absorber that protects the deeper layers and the substrate.

Keep containers closed, away from heat and direct sun. Warm gently and mix before use if the liquid has thickened in cold weather. See the SDS.

Pick molecular weight for the part
Low-MW HALS move to the surface quickly and suit thick parts; polymeric HALS resist loss from thin films and fibers. Many outdoor packages blend both.
Check interactions
HALS are basic and can interact with acidic additives, halogenated flame retardants, some pigments and sulfur-containing antioxidants. Send your full formulation so we can flag conflicts before the trial.

Can 292 be used in acid-catalyzed coatings?
It can interfere with acid catalysts. For acid-cure systems, the non-basic NOR HALS 123 is the usual choice.
