ATH

Aluminum Hydroxide (ATH) Supplier from China

Aluminum hydroxide (ATH) is a halogen-free mineral flame retardant and smoke suppressant for wire and cable compounds, rubber, unsaturated polyester (SMC/BMC), artificial stone, epoxy and coatings. SUNCHEM supplies ATH with a batch COA on every shipment; the TDS is sent on request.

Product overview & key benefits

ATH starts to decompose at about 200 °C, absorbing heat and releasing water vapor that cools the polymer and dilutes the flame; the alumina left behind protects the surface and reduces smoke. Because it is used at high loadings, particle size, surface treatment and purity strongly affect processing and mechanical properties.

ATH suits polymers processed below about 200 °C, such as EVA and PE cable compounds, rubber, UPR and epoxy. For higher processing temperatures, magnesium hydroxide is used instead.

Flame retardant and smoke suppressant

Releases water when heated and reduces smoke, with no halogen.

Filler economics

Used at high loadings as both flame retardant and filler.

Specified on your terms

We quote against your Al₂O₃ content, particle size, whiteness, oil absorption, moisture, soluble Na₂O and surface treatment and send the batch COA for each lot.

Packaging & storage

Packaging

Tell us the bag or drum size and pallet requirements you need; we confirm the packaging with the quotation.

Storage

Keep bags closed in a dry store.

From first email to approved supply

01

Name the end use

Name the polymer and the fire rating you must meet — UL 94 class and thickness, LOI or cable standard.

02

Compare the numbers that matter

Particle size (D50), whiteness, oil absorption, moisture, soluble soda and surface treatment.

03

Mind the processing temperature

Keep compounding below about 200 °C or ATH starts releasing water.

04

Trial, then lock the spec

Compound a trial batch, run your fire and mechanical tests, and keep the approved lot COA as the reference.

Tell us your requirement. We match the grade.

Tell us the polymer, the fire rating you need, the quantity and the destination port. Add your current specification and we will quote against it.
