Isomer-specific intermediate
p-Cresol gives the substitution pattern your product needs; isomer purity is what to check.
p-Cresol (4-methylphenol) is a raw material for antioxidants including rubber antioxidants, phenolic resins and plasticizers, disinfectants, dyes and pesticides. SUNCHEM supplies p-cresol with a batch COA on every shipment.
p-Cresol is the para isomer of methylphenol. Alkylated with isobutylene it gives BHT and related antioxidants for plastics, rubber, fuels and lubricants; it is also used for phenolic resins and plasticizers in the plastics industry, as a disinfectant raw material, and as an intermediate for dyes, pesticides and fragrance chemicals such as anisaldehyde.
p-Cresol melts at about 35 °C, so it may arrive solid; plan heated unloading.

Used for pesticides, antioxidants, resins, plasticizers, fragrances and dyes.
We quote against your assay and isomer limits and send the batch COA for each lot.
| Parameter | Typical value |

Assay, other cresol isomers, phenol, water and color limits depend on the producer grade and are stated on the TDS and batch COA; the limits for your order are confirmed in the quotation and contract.
Where p-Cresol is used, and what to confirm before you switch supply.
The raw material for BHT and other hindered-phenol antioxidants used in plastics, rubber, fuels and lubricants.
Used for phenolic resins and plasticizers in the plastics industry.
A raw material for disinfectants, dye and pesticide intermediates and fragrance chemicals.
| Your requirement | What usually works |
|---|---|
| Pesticide and pharmaceutical synthesis | Specify assay and limits for the other cresol isomers |
| Resins and plasticizers | Standard grade; agree color and water |
| Antioxidants and fragrances | Specify purity and color |
| Replacing an existing supplier | Send your current TDS or COA; we quote against the parameters you approve |
Tell us the drum or IBC size you need; we confirm the packaging with the quotation.
Keep containers closed in a cool, ventilated store away from oxidizers. Cresols darken on exposure to air and light.
Toxic and corrosive (Class 6.1, subsidiary 8). The SDS gives the UN number for the form shipped (solid or molten).
The product you make: isomer and impurity limits follow from it.
Assay, the other cresol isomers, phenol, water and color.
Cresols are toxic and corrosive to skin; follow the SDS for protective equipment and closed transfer.
Run a sample in your own process and keep the approved lot COA as the reference for contract limits.
Tell us what you make with p-Cresol, the quantity and the destination port. Add your current specification and we will quote against it.
