Product overview & key benefits

Xanthan gum is produced by fermentation of carbohydrates with Xanthomonas campestris. It dissolves in hot or cold water to give high viscosity at low dosage; the viscosity drops under shear and recovers at rest. That makes it a thickener and stabilizer in sauces, dressings, beverages and bakery, a suspending agent in agrochemical and coating formulations, and a viscosifier in oil-drilling fluids.

Food, oil-drilling and industrial grades differ in viscosity, mesh size and microbiology, so tell us the end use before quoting. Xanthan gum is a polymer; the chemical formula on the current page (C₈H₁₄Cl₂N₂O₂) is not correct and is not used here.

High viscosity at low dosage

Thickens and stabilizes at fractions of a percent, in hot or cold water.

Shear-thinning flow

Pours and pumps easily, then recovers to hold particles and droplets in suspension.

Grade matched to use

Food, oil-drilling and industrial grades quoted against your viscosity and mesh requirements, with a COA per batch.

Packaging & storage

Packaging

25 kg bags. Tell us your pallet requirements with your inquiry.

Storage

Keep bags closed in a cool, dry store. Xanthan gum absorbs moisture and can cake if exposed to humidity.

From first email to approved supply

01

Name the end use

Food, drilling fluid or industrial formulation: the grade, viscosity and documents follow from it.

02

Compare the numbers that matter

Viscosity (a 1% solution in KCl is a common test), mesh size, pH, loss on drying and, for food, microbiology.

03

Test dispersion in your system

Run the sample in your own formulation; mesh size changes how fast it hydrates without lumps.

04

Trial, then lock the spec

Keep the approved lot COA as the contract reference.

Tell us your requirement. We match the grade.

Tell us your end use, the quantity and the destination port. Add your current specification and we will quote against it.
