Product overview & key benefits

In aluminum alloy plants, K₂TiF₆ is reacted with molten aluminum — usually together with potassium fluoroborate — to make Al–Ti and Al–Ti–B master alloys. The fine TiAl₃ and TiB₂ particles they contain refine the grain of cast and wrought aluminum. K₂TiF₆ is also used to produce titanium metal and titanic acid, and in catalyst preparation.

Buyers usually compare assay, moisture and impurities such as iron, silicon and lead, because these carry straight into the master alloy.

Titanium source for grain refiners

The standard titanium salt for Al–Ti and Al–Ti–B master alloys made by the halide-salt route.

Blends with fluoroborate

White powder that is mixed with potassium fluoroborate before charging into molten aluminum.

Packaging & storage

Packaging

Pack size is confirmed with the quotation.

Storage

Keep in closed containers in a dry place, away from acids: contact with strong acids can release hydrogen fluoride. Follow the SDS.

From first email to approved supply

01

Name the product you make

Master alloy, titanium chemical or catalyst: tell us which one and its target composition.

02

Compare the numbers that matter

Assay, moisture, iron, silicon and lead. Ask for them on the same COA template as your incoming inspection.

03

Keep it dry

Moisture in the salt adds hydrogen to the melt. Check packaging on arrival and keep opened bags sealed.

04

Trial, then lock the spec

Run a sample in your own process and keep the approved lot COA as the reference for contract limits.

Potassium Fluotitanate FAQ

What is potassium fluotitanate used for?

Mainly as the titanium source for Al–Ti and Al–Ti–B grain-refining master alloys. It is also used for titanium metal and titanic acid production and in catalyst preparation.

What purity do you supply?

Our standard grade is 98.0% min. assay, white powder. Moisture and impurity limits are stated on the TDS and batch COA.

Which impurities matter for master alloys?

Iron, silicon, lead and moisture, because they carry into the alloy. Send your limits and we will quote against them.

How should K₂TiF₆ be stored?

In closed containers in a dry place, away from acids, which can release hydrogen fluoride. Follow the SDS for handling.
