Dissolves difficult polymers
Polyacrylonitrile, spandex polymers, polyimide precursors, PVDF and polysulfones go into solution for spinning, casting and coating.
N,N-Dimethylacetamide (DMAC) is a high-boiling polar aprotic solvent used to spin acrylic and spandex fibers, cast polyimide films and PVDF membranes, and as a reaction solvent in pharmaceutical and agrochemical synthesis. SUNCHEM supplies DMAC in drums or ISO tanks with a batch COA on every shipment.
DMAC dissolves polymers that few other solvents can — polyacrylonitrile, polyurethane-urea, polyimide precursors, PVDF and polysulfones — and it is stable to strong bases, which makes it a reaction solvent for pharmaceuticals such as antibiotics and for agrochemicals. Its main volume uses are fiber spinning, film casting, membrane making and wire enamels.
DMAC is classified as toxic for reproduction and is listed as a substance of very high concern in the EU, where its industrial use is restricted to set exposure limits. Tell us your market so we provide the documents you need.

High boiling point and stability to bases suit pharmaceutical and agrochemical reactions.
We quote against your purity, water and amine limits and send the batch COA for each lot.

Purity, water, acetic acid, dimethylamine and color limits depend on the producer grade and are stated on the TDS and batch COA; the limits for your order are confirmed in the quotation and contract.
Where DMAC is used, and what to confirm before you switch supply.
The spinning solvent for acrylic fiber and for spandex (polyurethane-urea) fiber, recovered and recycled in the plant.
Dissolves polyamic acid for polyimide film and wire enamel, and PVDF, PES or PSF for ultrafiltration and battery-separator coatings.
A reaction and crystallization solvent in antibiotic, API and agrochemical synthesis.
| Your requirement | What usually works |
|---|---|
| Fiber spinning (acrylic, spandex) | Industrial-grade DMAC in ISO tank or drums; agree water and amine limits |
| Polyimide film, membranes, electronics | Specify purity, water and metal ions |
| Pharmaceutical synthesis | Specify purity and impurity limits your QA approves |
| Replacing an existing supplier | Send your current TDS or COA; we quote against the parameters you approve |
Drums or ISO tank. Tell us which you need and your unloading set-up.
Keep containers closed in a cool, ventilated store; DMAC is hygroscopic and readily absorbed through skin — follow the SDS for protective equipment.
Fiber, film, membrane or synthesis: water, amine and metal limits follow from it.
Purity, water, acetic acid, dimethylamine and color — the same parameters as your incoming-inspection sheet.
Confirm closed handling and exposure limits for your market before the first delivery.
Run a sample in your own process and keep the approved lot COA as the reference for contract limits.
Tell us the process you use DMAC in, the quantity and the destination port. Add your current specification and we will quote against it.

Mainly as a spinning solvent for acrylic and spandex fibers, a solvent for polyimide films, wire enamels and PVDF or PES membranes, and a reaction solvent in pharmaceutical and agrochemical synthesis.
Purity, water, acetic acid, dimethylamine and color; for electronics, also metal ions.
In drums or ISO tanks.
In the EU it is classified as toxic for reproduction, listed as an SVHC, and subject to exposure-limit restrictions for industrial use. Check the rules in your market.
