Solid or solution
Choose a 98% or 99% solid, or a 50% solution if you dose it as a liquid.
Ammonium thiocyanate (NH₄SCN) is a water-soluble thiocyanate salt used in textile dyeing, metal separation and plating, organic synthesis and analytical chemistry. SUNCHEM supplies 98% and 99% solid grades and a 50% solution, with a batch COA on every shipment.
Ammonium thiocyanate is a highly soluble salt that supplies the thiocyanate (SCN⁻) ion. It is used as an auxiliary in dyeing, in plating baths and solvent-extraction processes that separate metals, as a reagent in organic synthesis — including pesticide and pharmaceutical intermediates and the separation of antibiotics — and as a classic analytical reagent for iron(III).
The solid is hygroscopic and cakes easily, so moisture matters along with assay, chloride, sulfate and iron.
Choose a 98% or 99% solid, or a 50% solution if you dose it as a liquid.
Dissolves readily in water and polar solvents for baths, reactions and analytical use.
We quote against your assay, chloride, sulfate and iron limits and send the batch COA for each lot.

Assay values are the grades we offer. Moisture, chloride, sulfate and iron limits depend on the producer grade and are stated on the TDS and batch COA; the limits for your order are confirmed in the quotation and contract.
Where ammonium thiocyanate is used, and what to confirm before you switch supply.
Used as an auxiliary in dyeing and printing and in dye chemistry.
Used in plating baths and in solvent-extraction separation of metals such as zirconium and hafnium.
A thiocyanate source and polymerization aid in organic synthesis, used in the production and separation of pesticide and antibiotic intermediates, and a standard reagent for iron(III) analysis.
| Your requirement | What usually works |
|---|---|
| Dissolving in batches on site | Solid 98% or 99% |
| Dosing as a liquid | 50% solution |
| Analytical or low-impurity use | 99% solid; specify chloride, sulfate and iron limits |
| Replacing an existing supplier | Send your current TDS or COA; we quote against the parameters you approve |
Pack size depends on the grade (solid or 50% solution) and is confirmed with the quotation.
Hygroscopic: keep bags tightly closed in a dry place. Keep away from acids and oxidizers — contact with acids releases very toxic gas. Follow the SDS.
Solid grades suit batch dissolving; the 50% solution saves handling if you dose a liquid.
Assay, moisture, chloride, sulfate and iron. Ask for them on the same COA template as your incoming inspection.
The solid cakes when it picks up water. Check bags on arrival and reseal opened bags.
Run a sample in your own process and keep the approved lot COA as the reference for contract limits.
