Ammonium thiocyanate is a highly soluble salt that supplies the thiocyanate (SCN⁻) ion. It is used as an auxiliary in dyeing, in plating baths and solvent-extraction processes that separate metals, as a reagent in organic synthesis — including pesticide and pharmaceutical intermediates and the separation of antibiotics — and as a classic analytical reagent for iron(III).
The solid is hygroscopic and cakes easily, so moisture matters along with assay, 塩化, sulfate and iron.
