Ethyl-Hexyl-Methoxycinnamate is a chemical compound and belongs to the cinnamates, an ester of methoxy cinnamic acid and 2-ethyl hexanol.

It is produced by the reaction between Ethanol and Hexanoic Acid or Octanoic Acid, which can be done by either chemical or biological methods (enzymatic), but the method most commonly used is the Chemical Method.

It is produced by reacting propylene oxide with phenol under basic conditions. It is also produced by reacting catechol, formaldehyde and octanol in the presence of a catalyst. It has the acronym EHMC.EHMC is visually transparent, and it gives high gloss to the finished products.

It is an ester of p-methoxy cinnamic acid and 2-ethyl hexanol. It has SPF 50+ protection against UVB rays, an absorption peak at 365 nm. It is a colourless, slightly viscous liquid. It is soluble in aromatic hydrocarbon and alcohol but not in water.
