Introduction:

L-Tyrosine is one of the most common amino acids that is used in the human body. It is also called 1-Amino-4-phenylbutanoic acid.

It is a non-essential amino acid that acts as a precursor to dopamine, norepinephrine, and epinephrine.

It is primarily present in tyrosine hydroxylase, an enzyme used to convert L-tyrosine into L-DOPA. It is the precursor for the production of permanent neurotransmitters in the brain.

It is produced through chemical reactions in our body, and it can find it in different types of food.  This amino acid is made from an essential amino acid called phenylalanine.

L-Tyrosine is a precursor to a variety of compounds, including neurotransmitters and hormones. This amino acid is also a precursor to the synthesis of melanin found in the hair and skin.

Applications:

L-Tyrosine is best known for its effects on mental performance, cognition, and the production of several neurotransmitters.

It is a precursor to the thyroid hormone. It is converted into dopamine, epinephrine (adrenaline), and norepinephrine, the primary neurotransmitters that enhance cognitive function.

L-Tyrosine increases the activity of dopamine and norepinephrine. It is vital for maintaining mental performance under stress. It also plays a role in the production of melanin. L-Tyrosine has been studied for obesity, chronic stress, and other issues related to the neurotransmitters it helps produce.

It is used to treat low blood pressure, depression, stress, Parkinson’s disease, infertility due to hormonal imbalances, and phenylketonuria. In addition, it is also used in the treatment of cocaine addiction and ADHD.
