Potassium 2-ethylhexanoate is the potassium salt of 2-ethylhexanoic acid. In rigid foam it catalyzes the trimerization of isocyanate groups into isocyanurate rings, which gives PIR boards and panels their heat and fire performance; it is normally combined with an amine catalyst to balance cream, gel and rise times. In coatings it is used as a drier.
It is often traded as a solution in a glycol carrier rather than as the pure salt, so the active content and the carrier are the first things to confirm when you compare offers.
