4,4'-DDS is an aromatic diamine with a sulfone bridge. Cured with epoxy resins it gives high glass-transition temperature and stiffness, so it is a standard hardener in composite prepregs, adhesives and electrical laminates. It is also a monomer for polysulfone amide (공익 광고) fiber and other heat-resistant polymers, and an intermediate for acid azo and disperse dyes.
The same molecule is the API dapsone. This page covers industrial grade; pharmaceutical grade is made under GMP and is quoted separately.
