Factory Background and Product Specialization
Start with what the factory actually specializes in. A producer whose core business is standard industrial solvents may list "electronic grade" 제품, but genuine electronics-oriented capability usually shows up as dedicated purification steps, cleanroom or controlled filling areas, and a customer base in electronics supply chains. Ask how long the specific grade has been in production, what share of output goes to electronics customers, and whether the product you need is made in-house or partially traded. Specification Capability and Batch Consistency
The key question is not whether a supplier can meet a specification once, but whether they can meet it every time. Request specification sheets with real control limits rather than marketing purity claims, and ask for COA data from several recent production batches so you can see actual variation. Where metallic impurities, water content or particle counts matter to your process, confirm those parameters are controlled in routine production, not only measured on request.
Testing Methods and COA Format
A certificate of analysis is only as good as the methods behind it. Confirm which parameters are tested on every batch, which instruments and methods are used (ICP-MS versus ICP-OES for trace metals, Karl Fischer for moisture, GC for organic purity), and whether the supplier's detection limits are adequate for your specification. Packaging and Contamination Control
For electronics applications, packaging is part of the product. Ask what container types and liner materials are used, how containers are cleaned or whether they are new, and how the supplier prevents cross-contamination during filling. Ask for examples of markets they have shipped to and which documents they routinely provide.
Red Flags in Supplier Communication
Certain patterns in early communication reliably predict problems later: purity claims that change between conversations, reluctance to share batch-level COA data, "we can meet any spec" answers without supporting method detail, quoted prices far below the market for the claimed grade, and vague answers about whether goods are self-produced or traded. None of these alone is disqualifying, but each deserves a direct follow-up question — and a supplier who responds to technical questions with sales language is telling you something.
