Loxoprofen is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) ，Sometimes, people also call it KOLOXO，in the propionic acid derivatives group, including ibuprofen naproxen, among others.

Like most NSAIDs, loxoprofen is a non-selective cyclooxygenase inhibitor and works by reducing the synthesis of prostaglandins from arachidonic acid. One of the methods to produce it is the reaction of ethyl 2-oxocyclopentanecarboxylate and potassium hydroxide in dimethylformamide with ethyl 2-(4-chloro-phenyl)propionate at 80°C for two h.

The product obtained reacts with 47% hydrobromic acid and is hydrolyzed and decarboxylated to give loxoprofen. The active chemical in Loxoprofen is Propionic. It also contains Methylparaben, Povidone Iodine, Sodium Hydroxide, Citric Acid Monohydrate.

• Loxoprofen is used as an analgesic for short-term pain relief. It may also be used as systemic, cardiovascular and intra-articular treatment, such as for rheumatoid arthritis.
• It is used in particular for alleviating pain and lowering fevers in conditions with inflammation or fever.
