Pentabromodiphenyl Ether

The PBDPO (Pentabromodiphenyl oxide ) is a brominated derivative of the diphenyl ether compounds. It is soluble in oil but only slightly soluble in water. It has a molar mass of 603.87 g/mol. It does not conduct electricity or heat very well, which is why it has found use in creating fire barriers, thermal insulation and even heat shielding.

It is an organobromine compound and organic flame retardant, widely used in electronic devices such as computers and televisions. It can be used as a flame retardant in appliances, 가구, 플라스틱, building insulation and even textiles.

It is also known for its usage in the production of high-density polyethylene or HDPE. It can be added to molten polyethylene to create a high-density plastic, which can be used for disposable bottles, toys and cooking utensils.
