イルベサルタン

イルベサルタン (trade name: Ismo) is an inhibitor of the angiotensin-2 converting enzyme (ACE) and treats hypertension in adults.

Irbesartan can be produced in a 3 step reaction starting with 2-bromobenzoic acid for hydrogenation, adding two methoxy benzaldehyde and then exposure to sodium hydroxide in methanolic solution.

The final product will have three chiral centres: R(1), S(2) and D(3). it is also produced by reacting irbesartan with 4-Bromo-3,5-dimethoxybenzoic acid in suspension at different concentrations.

The process involves an esterification reaction that leaves Irbesartan to be purified through column chromatography and vacuum distillation. Irbesartan blocks the uptake of salt across blood vessel walls with very few side effects, which raises blood pressure. The active ingredients are irbesartan, an angiotensin II receptor antagonist, and hydralazine HCL, a vasodilator.

Irbesartan is an orally active, potent and competitive antagonist of the angiotensin II type 1 receptor AT1. It has been used for congestive heart failure and to treat high blood pressure.

Its effects on blood pressure are proportional to the current stage of hypertension, and it can be utilized as a partner with other medications for cases of resistant hypertension. Irbesartan was originally identified through its component erythromycin and then later processed and sold as erythrohydne, but now only remains in research currently.

It has been shown to inhibit TGF beta1 production by blocking the binding between Smad3/Smad4 complexes. In turn, this inhibits TGF beta1 from activating downstream signaling pathways such as the Mitogen-Activated Protein Kinases (MAPK) family of kinases.

It's often used as an active ingredient and has attracted attention because of its benefits for relieving pain and reducing swelling without any harmful side effects. Irbesartan components can be made into tablets or capsules.
